Statue of Christ
This is Christ of the Ozarks statue photo taken during our vacation in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on a snowy month of December 2006. This is just one of the some interesting spots in Eureka Springs. Here also located is the Chapel called to be the most beautiful in the world, the Thorncrown Chapel.

Christ of the Ozarks statue is a monumental sculpture of Jesus located near Eureka Springs, Arkansas, atop Magnetic Mountain. It was erected in 1966 by Gerald L. K. Smith, a Depression-era movement initiated by religious and political figure who briefly led the Share Our WealthHuey Long. The statue is a popular tourist attraction, but remains controversial with local residents due to Smith’s association with anti-Semitic organizations throughout his career. The statue, which is over 67 feet (20 meters) tall, was primarily the work of Emmet Sullivan, who also worked on nearby Dinosaur World. The work is quite modernistic and minimalistic in a way; there is little true facial detail or expression, and the lines and forms are generally quite simplified.

The face itself is fifteen feet long. The arms, with a spread of sixty-five feet from fingertip to fingertip, suggest the crucifixion. The representation of Christ was built completely by hand, constructed of twenty-four layers of white mortar interlaced with a steel frame. The robes and hair were sculpted by workmen on scaffolds who built an elevator so that they could reach the higher segments of the statue. The statue was dedicated on Saturday, June 25, 1966, although the folds of the robe took an additional three weeks to complete. The Christ of the Ozarks is also featured briefly in the 2005 movie Elizabethtown.

Christ of the Ozarks statue was built by the inspiration of The Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, the world’s largest statue of Jesus.

The Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil was named one of the new Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. On February 10, 2008, violent electric bolt parted the thunderclouds over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to strike Christ the Redeemer. Sunday’s storm caused havoc in Rio, felling trees in several neighbourhoods – but did not damage the statue.

This was the dramatic scene as the world’s largest statue of Jesus was hit by lightning.

Statue of Christ
It was just some lighting striking an object, or could be taken as a warning to humble man.

The Statue of Christ the Redeemer, standing 30 metres (98ft) tall, made of 700 tons of reinforced concrete and overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, is one of the tallest statues in the world. The statue represents Jesus standing with outstretched arms and is one of the most famous symbols of this lively city. Developed by the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and originally conceived in 1921, construction started in mid-1926 and was completed in 1931. The statue sits on top of 2,296ft Corcovado Mountain (Hunchback Mountain) located in Tijuca National Park, a popular area for picnics and walking. From the statue there are superb views of Sugar Loaf Mountain, downtown Rio de Janeiro and Rio’s beaches.

Home speakers

It is always a good experience listening to music, and or watching movies, especially in HD at home, all this because of the home theater system. If we are going to feel like a movie is a live experience and to maximize the effects, we better get the best audio and video connections and terminals. Speakers come in many sizes each with different level of output all together for high quality audio. For me the best small bookshelf speakers can be bought from a speaker company itself, one that focuses mainly on home theater system and who has easy access to any top speaker factories worldwide for affordable distribution, and if the shipping is free, that is so much better. These things for home do not really have to be so expensive, but if we will look diligently, we can always find the best speaker system that is tagged with good price.

My sister works as a nurse-midwife and she delivers babies. She knows so many things about babies and they educate the new parents too in the clinic. They are after of the welfare of the babies so they would demonstrate how to take care of them, assess their needs and also the materials that make babies comfortable like baby bedding so the little darlings can have as much good rest and sleep as possible for better growing and development.

Our neighbors are going to Sturgis in couple of days. It is time for motorcycle showoff and camaraderie in the premier motorcycle event! Your bike is your toy, taking care of it so that it will be without blemish, protect yourself too with Harley Davidson helmets for men found at Latus. Anywhere we travel, a helmet is a must for bikers. It is a double purpose helmet, to prevent head injuries and also to show off your durable top of the line helmet matching your Harley Davidson motorcycle, especially this memorable event, and any driving time. Like a seatbelt, helmet saved so many lives and prevented severe injuries of bikers in crashes and collisions. The head is very important part to be protected, and that is what the helmet is for. We don’t have to worry anymore of damages when our loves ones have then on while driving. Always be safe and wear the tough helmets from the tough motorcycle makers.

South Padre Island

What is summer without going to the beach? This was taken at South Padre Island, Texas during our vacation and visit to hubby’s long time friend. I enjoyed the beach so much. It was so refreshing and relaxing, I can still recall how it felt when I was swimming there. Obviously I missed the beach. How was your beach escapade?

During one of our travels, I saw some children named by their parents with negatively strange names, especially for girls. Now what is hot is that babies are named after some Olympic terms of hope and encouragement, especially that the Olympic is few weeks away. So what are you going to name your baby? We are planning to have a baby in the near future and I am so excited for that. In the right time we will fulfill our dreams, that is why right now I am already looking at names we will possibly call our baby. I have bought a book for it, but the most convenient and fun way to search for baby names is through baby zone online that provides interesting and unique baby name list! Not only we will find good names and their origin but also all popular, helpful and interesting information about pregnancy and babies.

Planning to go home

Philippines, mapWe have a plan already to go back to the Philippines for a vacation, both hubby and I. I am so excited! We don’t have any date yet but at first I thought we could go by this October, that will make it nine months after I came back here. We will be going to New Orleans for a little vacation that time so the best option is we will go back home before my birthday to celebrate it there, that will make it exactly one year since my last vacation. I am more than excited and happy. That is all I want. I just missed the roasted pig so so. And if I would also go back to India, there are also some things I wanted to do there.
