The latest laptop mouse

May 5, 2008 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: Computers, electronics and gadgetry

slider-pen1.jpgI bought a wireless mouse for my laptop. It is not always comfortable though because I don’t have a good mousing surface. I am glad to know that there is a latest electronic gadget called the Swiftpoint Slider. It is a tiny and very handy mouse. There are a couple of ways to hold it, either grip it similar to a pen (as shown) or you can lie it down and move it with your thumb sitting on top of it. It will work on most flat surfaces, including on top of your laptop keyboard. I’ll use my travel mouse on the palm rests just below the keyboard, but that’s not always enough room, so this would certainly give you a larger area to work with.

The Last Frontier of credit card security

credit card securityCredit card biometric authentication to lock out fraudsters.

I was staring at my laptop’s fingerprint sensor, which, of course, if one is enrolled in the enabled program, would require (my) unique fingerprint in order to access everything in the computer. And what if this is also true for credit cards? To block out fraud use and security issues? But somebody had thought about it. The last frontier of credit card security is by Anil Jain’s wanting to put fingerprint sensor in the card so that all transactions will pass through biometric authentication at checkout. Imagine a useless stolen credit card. Looking forward to 2010.

The advantage of house alarm systems

Mar 28, 2008 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: electronics and gadgetry, Homes and improvement, reviews

Last month the alarm system in the house was finished. So when I was alone, I had it on all the time, even when the system technician came to check some things. So it went off and the alarms and sirens really made me run to the control panel to switch it off. And so the alarm monitoring. There were two things then: the phone system worked after all the testing and reconnections when the lines were dead, and most importantly, I have tested their alarm system monitoring which I found really reliable, and it was quick, I got high quality rapid-response service. I know they would always be there then to provide assistance and safety monitoring. House alarm systems are real helpful. And they are easy to set-up, the service is dependable and respond to situations fast.

There are some viruses that are already come pre-installed. We need to be aware and be very careful about buying computers or electronic gadgets. Can Robot Planes Save the Air Force?

Mar 13, 2008 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: electronics and gadgetry

If it’s bloody dogfights versus the Red Chinese over the Taiwan Strait that represent our Air Force’s future, then we’re probably right to invest so heavily in speedy, stealthy, expensive manned fighters — even if the budgetary picture for these airplanes looks worse by the day.
But if counter-insurgency fights are the way ahead, then maybe, just maybe, drone airplanes can rescue the Air Force from budgetary and obsolescence meltdown.

Keep you used batteries out of the nation’s solid waste stream and help preserve natural resources. Check the batteries in your gadgets and equipments like laptop computers, camcorders, cordless power tools and cordless cellular phones, digital cameras, and two-way radios. And if the rechargeable batteries are worn out, no longer hold a charge, you can recycle them by visiting many collection sites and rechargeable batteries drop-off location nationwide, including BestBuy, CrcuitCity, OfficeDepot, RadioShack, Sears, Staples, Target.
