personal and travels
We had not been fishing since coming here, and that’s some few years now. But recently, yeah it was exciting; we went for a fun ride, as he wanted to have a ‘reconnaissance’ before the ‘big’ day. Hubby’s not been fishing for long time. It was a wonderful early morning trip on the red river, or even just to be out early in the morning for that matter. Below are the pictures I shot while they were preparing the boat. It would be a great day. And it was. The river was beautiful, the fishes are cute, the ones that we caught anyway.
He keeps mentioning about going to New Orleans. Honestly I want somewhere fresh, a new and different place. But with all the entertainment in New Orleans, not that we involve in all of them, especially the Bourbon Street ‘shows’, I will be fine. On our last trip I had not seen this man with his li’l toy pup with his immobile stunt, it is very funny and ‘entertaining’. What I like most about this is the fact that he is inseparable with his companion, of course, a man’s best friend, a dog. They make a very good picture.
A friend showed me his picture drinking water with a wooden ladle in one of the tourist spots in Japan. There must be something special with the water for it to be “featured” in the place for anyone to drink using few ladles available. Silly me, I asked how did it taste like. I was kind of expecting the answer to be “sweet” or something, but he answered, “it tastes like water”. Of course it does taste like water! He had a sense of humor huh? But in Eureka Spring they have what has been called “Sweet Spring”. At least that was the early townspeople declared their spring water to taste like, having a pleasant and sweet taste. The spring was originally located in the deep ravine below the present site. To locate the spring in a more accessible location, workmen dug into the mountainside above the street, and constructed a stone lined, later limestone, circular enclosure around the spring. Sweet spring and the woods above and below were established to be a Spring Reservation, preserved for public use in perpetuity since 1886.

A view of the bridge to South Padre Island taken from the top of the Port Isabel lighthouse in Texas. This was taken during our 4rth of July vacation. Oh yeah, it has been two years ago, but I can still remember how it felt to be up there in the lighthouse one windy afternoon, it was wonderful to be up there though my feet sure felt funny.
I knew he was also bored to death, but just for the sake of the experience and of being aboard the famous ‘steamer Natchez’ for a tour along the river, I still had fun for being there. The best part were
observing other people aboard and of course seeing New Orleans from a different benchmark, on the river. Isn’t it beautiful? For me seeing the remnants of the ‘older era’ in New Orleans was more beautiful, and priceless.
This is one of the photos I took on our way back from town. It was a beautiful day, a really quiet day. Not much traffic, but that is generally the scene. In this part of the place you don’t see too many vehicles, much less people around. But it makes the country side more beautiful and peaceful, too peaceful, makes one closer to nature.

It was just a quick passing glance but I recognized it right away! It was the Philippine ‘colors’. We were strolling through the Riverwalk shopping center in New Orleans two months ago and those lovely national flags in a form of an umbrella were hanging up high in the store’s display. I smiled in national pride seeing my country’s flag there.
At the river walk towards our way to the IMAX theater in New Orleans. Behind is the beautiful fountain, soaring up high (in what my G10 camera can vividly capture,) only to fall back down its lowest point with a heavy drop, like the dramas in life. But life is an endless frontier, sure it is beautiful and good things still happen, even much sweeter after the fall.
