Error establishing database connection

Mar 15, 2009 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: wordpress

There is one issue that returns a website being viewed a message that says “error establishing a database connection”. The case on one of the websites was that the owner upgrades his wordpress version in the the latest available through fantastico in the the control panel. The question was how did it just returned one website error while the other websites being upgraded worked fine? But one of the add-on websites? Somehow, somewhere there was a change made that returned an error of establishing database connection and therefore cannot view the website nor can login to wordpress though website/wp-login.php. The fix? Watch these awesome tutorial videos and we will learn a lot.

wordpressI am using a new theme as you see. This is the n^th theme I have tried but will settle for this one with few more personalization. This is Forte theme for wordpress by a Malaysian designer. The best theme yet with so rich features! A very nice package, and the fact that he is giving it for free. Very generous theme that has tracked back some fifty thousand discussions. It’s another level. Very interesting.

Online signature maker

Mar 5, 2008 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: wordpress

Do you want to add some personal touches to your blogs, posts, emails, and other digital contents? By means of a “signature” you can spice up your entries online. There are many available online signature makers, some free, others not. Just for fun I use personal online signature maker. There is a signature wizard which guides you through making your own signature by choosing pre-designed styles to your own liking. You can also make a signature from your own signature image and season it from there. Once complete, you either download the image result, or download the HTML and or BB code which you can attach to your emails and blogs or other web pages. Below are two samples of the generated signatures.

In blogger, you can upload the image and save the image code in your post template, or you can directly paste the generated HTML code of the signature in the html mode of your post template, so every time you make a post, the signature code is already there you only have to position it where you want it to be in each post.

In wordpress though, there is a plugin for use with adding your signature to each post or page, the add signature plugin. In the settings option in your dashboard, you can make how the plugin works. There are three default signatures code templates which can be inserted to your posts by the trigger texts. From there you can paste or replace one of the codes with your generated signature or whatever words yo want displayed.

Today I change my theme to Nathan Rice’s ElegantBlue wp theme, but I retained my VertigoBlue header. Everything’s blue. I saw it featured in wp dashboard today along with other releases. It’s beautiful. It is a 2/3 column, option packed, wide content column, widgetized theme ready to use out of the box. There are several options that will help you customize this theme without ever touching a line of code! Check out his best, most feature-rich theme yet! Instructions are clearly explained here.

In WordPress..

We purchased a swamp plan in Hostgator for my web host. So far, I am contented with it, it’s superb, I really like it, this time. I am definitely new to this domain names and management and I just followed or do what I thought was right. I used Fantastico to install WordPress automatically few days ago, and this morning I got an email that I have to upgrade my installation to version 2.2.2, great. It was 2.2 when I installed it, and I see that there is new one coming, wordpress in beta. Guess will be so much better. Beginning to love it now.

Popularity Contest

Aug 8, 2007 Author: bluegreen butterfly | Filed under: wordpress

How popular is your post? One group of things that I like about here is the plugin functions that can extend the functionality present in a standard WordPress, and there are so many available around. One that I have seen in some of my friends’ weblogs is the Popularity contest plugin that keeps track of activity on our blog and calculates a popularity percentage for each post and page. I finally tried it today and it is wonderful, entertaining, as you see in the display, you will know the rank of this post or page compared to the other posts and pages on the site, so can keep track what are the hot topics in my blog. Cool and charming plugin. Download it from here.
