My flight to Florida is tomorrow and though I had a lot of time this week, I just packed my bags today, to maximize my excitement I guess. I know we will be going to some outlets and thrift stores, for short, shopping galore, so my luggage is purposely just half-full. I will be checking in just one bag, with all the fees for checked luggage and the tendency to be lost, though I have experienced it just once, but for comfort, it will be the only bag. Anyway, I will be staying in their house for just one week. I insisted to stay shorter but my hostess wanted it one whole week, her whole vacation time. And it is just as well because I would be able to join their Filipina group Christmas Party. Earlier I climbed up the attic to retrieve bags I would be using, and it was there that I decided to move down the Christmas tree as well. Never too late. I told my sister I’m not gonna have one this year but she’s right, we still, and always, have reason to celebrate especially of Jesus’ birth. So I accomplished two good things tonight. And I am so excited to go.

Who would have known that our simple talks of taking a breather and visiting places to have some fun were not just simple at all, for it was also serious and would happen in reality. At least I could say it after my friend really requested one week off her work just to ‘accommodate’ me while vacation in her place. The other day I finally booked and paid my own flight to Florida. I was so excited. It’s kind of my real first adventure, on my own and I am so looking forward for the enjoyment, fun, memories and meeting new people and going to new places. I love traveling, it is for me ‘healing’.

I had a good time waiting for the next flight leg from Houston. I was so glad I opted for my rolling carry on bag and placing my laptop on top, over the shoulder bag where I could put the notebook computer inside. I knew it would be very heavy on me with all my carry on items inside with all the walking and going to my designated terminal. Houston George Bush Intercontinental airport is the sixth largest airport in the world and the fourth in the United States.

Frontier trivia of the day:

By land mass, the biggest airport in the world is hosted by the oil-rich Saudi Arabia, the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which covers some 81 square miles, larger than some cities. This airport has four terminals, yet only three have ever been used. Denver International Airport takes 53 sq. miles.

I have a list of places I want to see with my own eyes and step on my own two feet, and one of them is New Zealand. Why New Zealand? Because I have read several books featuring the country whose beauty is inviting me to visit, and I have seen so many wonderful photos and videos from Larry the Travel Guy’s website enough to me make me want to experience the exotic beauty New Zealand offers in its paradise myself. Just now I discover that it can become a reality, to travel to New Zealand, and most of all, for free! A free trip to New Zealand paradise made possible by Air New Zealand and Larry the travel guy. They are giving away to round trip flight tickets from Los Angeles to Auckland, so we can be a full time travel blogger spending priceless experience in New Zealand with our loved one. I wish I would win this. Aside from winning the two round trip flights the winner will also be featured on Larry the Travel Guy.com.

Our second wedding anniversary is getting closer now; and we are set for a vacation. Where do you think is the best place to go? We want somewhere romantic, of course, and since it will be on our wedding anniversary, I want it so special, to be in a paradise. Do you know that there is a place called the Island of Love? That is where the romance and honeymoon happen, not just with our special someone but with nature too. It is Tahiti, in the famous Bora Bora and other exquisite islands of French Polynesia.

I have been looking for information about the easy way to Tahiti for a Bora Bora holidays and vacation in the islands. I know that in organizing vacations like this, it is always better to deal with local agents from the place. They can always provide support and accommodate our concerns because they have the local knowledge advantage and the best vacation deals. Bora Bora is a major tourism place in Tahiti and staying in Bora Bora hotel just in front of the beautiful lagoons and beaches cannot be more inviting for relaxation and accommodation. We have flown with different airlines but now we can fly to the island paradise by Air Tahiti for cheap fares. Everything is exotic. The pristine white sand beaches, ecology, geological diversity and colorful history of Bora Bora and the whole island group of Tahiti are an attraction in themselves, and especially their black pearl farming. It will make a perfect wedding anniversary gift.

Tahiti is the largest island in the Windward group of French Polynesia, located in the archipelago of Society Islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. At 17° 32 S and 149° 34 W, Tahiti situated half way between California (6,200 km) and Australia (5,700 km).

We headed up early in the morning to the airport for Mumbai – Jaipur – Agra flight. We would be flying domestic and majority will be locals there. I know we would be safe it was just that kind of strange feeling I had for the moment. Our flight was delayed which is a part of the chain of late flights, but it was a comfort to be finally in the airplane flying to Jaipur. In my mind i was looking at the map of India and considering how big it is, we would have some hours flying up north. In countries like this one, security is of concern so they don’t allow photography in some airports, but we mistakenly took one in Jaipur when we arrived there around 1pm. The next flight to Agra will not take off till 3:00pm but again the flight was delayed for an hour, and the ground staff told us that the delay was due to air traffic congestion, as if we didn’t know better. We wait for another thirty minutes extension to the delay. Though I shouldn’t be surprised, it is still different when I think about the saying that goes in my place “gi-Indian, mostly late, or worse yet, will not show up“, seems the saying is based on real life.

It was so much of a relief when the plane finally arrived. But what surprised us most was that hubby and I were the only passenger of that plane for the whole trip to Agra! It was hubby’s first time also to experience that; it was like we were on chartered plane, with people attending us. But in fairness, the service was great and they were very accommodating. Kingfisher airlines has just taken that route not long ago and for sure in the future they will have many passengers going there so they will not lose some in flying such a new and big plane with only one or two people.

It was a busy week/end. On December twentieth we flew to Agra to see some landmarks of India. We would be staying there for few days. I had been looking forward for this one trip since my first time in India. India is a huge country. It took our regular aircraft few hours to reach the first leg being to Jaipur. It was pretty safe but being in a strange/foreign country tight on security being near Pakistan, everyone moves with precaution, as we should anywhere else in the world. Photographs are not allowed in some parts of the country and airports too. We were stranded for few hours in Jaipur airport for our next flight was delayed, which according to one of the attendants, caused by “air traffic”, of course we did not buy it. It was already evening when airplane landed for us off to Agra. Well, everything would be worth the wait for what awaited us there in our destination. le 20 décembre 2007
But I was estimating the time for me to move to make it to the next flight.

The plane lands in Singapore Changi airport at 7:40 pm, plus still some minutes to enter the main building. I was one of the first ones to go out and I hurried out but just in the gate I saw my name in the placard being called for by the ground staffs. “Excuse me, that’s me.” To my utmost relief, a buggy car was waiting for me and someone was taking me to the farthest gate boarding Mumbai passengers. I was very glad. I was very thankful of the Silkair flight of their taking care of my travel adjustments. With the buggy car ride, I saved an overnight’s worth of time. We reached gate 60 just when they were starting to board passengers. And my baggage? I just had one and in Davao they were placing it in the best place also so they could pull it out easily in Singapore. The buggy car driver was helpful enough and he called other ground agents to see to it my baggage can make it in the plane. He told her in the other line that I was going to India to get married so my bag must make it. Unique huh? Well, I was going to Mumbai to be with the man I married, almost the same reason, but not quiet, but I just listened. He was just making initiative to help me. I was so glad. But it was not sure if my bag indeed made it so I will just report it if I don’t see in in Mumbai airport. “See you in India, bag,” trip there.

I called hubby telling him I made it, and he was so glad. Imagine if I could not make it? We have been away, well, just for six weeks only, hhmm. Just few minutes after I was inside the air craft it was taking off and in four and a half hours, I will be in India. Thank God.
