Lovely Christmas tree

Christmas tree My mother-in-law called early today. She said she had put up their Christmas tree back to their attic. Mine, I have not. The year is not over yet. It’s just too beautiful to hide. If we could prolong the celebration longer. In Philippines we start putting decorations and playing Christmas songs months early, and keep the light and decors for as long as till January, how festive is that. I know I will still have mine until hubby comes back, soon. We may all have a prosperous and fruitful New Year ahead of us. And this country recover and go back it’s good ways.

Traveling bags

My flight to Florida is tomorrow and though I had a lot of time this week, I just packed my bags today, to maximize my excitement I guess. I know we will be going to some outlets and thrift stores, for short, shopping galore, so my luggage is purposely just half-full. I will be checking in just one bag, with all the fees for checked luggage and the tendency to be lost, though I have experienced it just once, but for comfort, it will be the only bag. Anyway, I will be staying in their house for just one week. I insisted to stay shorter but my hostess wanted it one whole week, her whole vacation time. And it is just as well because I would be able to join their Filipina group Christmas Party. Earlier I climbed up the attic to retrieve bags I would be using, and it was there that I decided to move down the Christmas tree as well. Never too late. I told my sister I’m not gonna have one this year but she’s right, we still, and always, have reason to celebrate especially of Jesus’ birth. So I accomplished two good things tonight. And I am so excited to go.

I have booked my flight

Who would have known that our simple talks of taking a breather and visiting places to have some fun were not just simple at all, for it was also serious and would happen in reality. At least I could say it after my friend really requested one week off her work just to ‘accommodate’ me while vacation in her place. The other day I finally booked and paid my own flight to Florida. I was so excited. It’s kind of my real first adventure, on my own and I am so looking forward for the enjoyment, fun, memories and meeting new people and going to new places. I love traveling, it is for me ‘healing’.

Saving for the present

Maybe because I didn’t have much such luxury when I was growing up, that now after I set aside ‘savings’ for emergency, I don’t mind treating nice people I go with, of course if I can afford it. My usual company is my mother-in-law. And I always pay for our meals when we eat out. Well, I readily offer when she would refuse because she’s got nothing in her purse. It is the thing that I cannot comprehend. I know full well that they have a good amount in savings, but they’re living with almost nothing, when it should be the time, due past time, for them to enjoy their hard labors in several past decades. They are in their eighties! I would be very happy to see them using some of their savings while they can still enjoy and appreciate it, whatever luxury it would give them, or whatever needs and wants it would meet. Well, sometimes we focus too much in the future, bleak or clear, and forget to give importance in the present time we are living. It is good to save for future use, but it should not steal us the importance of the present, how we live it, how we share it with our loved ones.

Juhu sunset

Beginning tomorrow I will be passing time again, but not in watching the Juhu sunset and the beach below from the hotel window, but in searching for something to occupy me in the weeks of solitude. This time my project is to redo and finish the cad drawing of the church, this one will really keep me bored by being busy and using my now almost stagnant brain for few weeks. Still nothing beats a constructive, intelligent company to converse and deal with. And it is not sunset yet, the sun has just risen up. Have to have my own way.

Country road

This is one of the photos I took on our way back from town. It was a beautiful day, a really quiet day. Not much traffic, but that is generally the scene. In this part of the place you don’t see too many vehicles, much less people around. But it makes the country side more beautiful and peaceful, too peaceful, makes one closer to nature.

Some time

A picture of me and my ‘backup’, este, my family: mother, siblings and cousin outside the terminal building of Davao International Airport. Perhaps I was just as glad that my flight that time to Manila was delayed so I could ‘steal’ some time left to be spent with them before we separate ways. Every moment is precious and though I admit I had wasted some of the times, I am still thankful for the bond and for the things that make us happy, despite the lack.
