Two wheel drive

I remember an email circulating around about “only in Vietnam”, featuring the scenes and stuff that happen only in the land, or in the streets of the Viets. Motorists using the motorbikes and loading them like they would a big truck. The more load, the better is the driver, I guess, because he has to have more control and balancing. This also reminds me that in Netherlands, thousands of bicycles are rolling down the streets as much as the four-wheel drives. This is the beauty of going to a lot of places for we will learn new things and about the other people and their culture. And I love it.

Healthy grilling

One of my favorite tools in the kitchen or for outside cooking is the fat grilling machine. It is so convenient to use and is very handy, sure makes the grilling meat for burgers so easy, as well as the cleaning for it has a non-stick surfaces. Grilling meat should be kept to a minimum but we can still make healthy grilling. You can find these new nice grill designs that will grill meat perfectly at George Foreman cooking website.

Horn blowing

Do you let people know that you are in town? And if you do, how do you do it? Today a man in New York was arrested for misdeanor and ticketed for blowing his horn excessively. Of course he is DWI for which he is charged with. He just wanted to let people know that he is in town. Whatever, intoxication really makes one to do unimaginable and unreasonable things. Speaking of horn blowing. The very first thing I noticed while traveling in India right outside the airport was the excessive horn blowing! Horns honking here and there always, and by always it was almost every second. I was surprised at first, but of course, I was entering into a different place with a culture of its own. But when those horns stop blowing, one would definitely kind of miss it, for the roads are not complete without vehicles and rickshaws that don’t blow horns, loudly.

Compact flash

We have installed six infrared cameras around with memory cards in each one. Maybe this week we are going to check the cards out for the photos that had been captured automatically by motion sensor. No wonder that these compact flash become so popular for digital cameras for they make the storage medium so convenient and advanced and more durable for any environment such as this, and also especially when we are traveling. It is the best data storage system. I will need a good card that is compatible with my new camera, may it be genuine high capacity Samsung/Toshiba/Sandisk/Lexar Compact Flash and I found good ones at memory suppliers online. When you are shopping for compact flash, be sure you’re not getting a counterfeit; get it from a reputable store.

At the Taj

A photo of us at the Taj Mahal one chilly early morning in December last year. Our tour guide took this photo. It was a wonderful experience. Isn’t it lovely?

Frontier trivia of the day:

There are calligraphies everywhere in the Taj Mahal compounds. As we enter through the gate of the Taj, there is one that says, “O Soul, thou art at rest. Return to the Lord at peace with Him, and He at peace with you.”

Christmas cookies

Christmas cookiesWe are in the ‘ber’ months. It is starting to cool off, and before we know it, it is Christmas already. Time flies so past, huh? Last year I spent my Christmas with hubby in India. But I am not sure yet where I am going to spend my Christmas this year, here in the US or in the Philippines. It is because hubby’s schedule was recently changed. But wherever I will be, the spirit is the same. Two of my favorites about Christmas are the fellowship and food, especially the Christmas cookies. What’s yours? We surely are going to make Christmas cookies, with my sisters for all of our relatives, and us or with my mother-in-law. I have a recipe for Christmas cookies that I got from myrecipes.com. They have thousands of recipes, tips and how-to’s, and menus for all occasions that is why I go there to find easy to prepare and healthy recipes.

To the Middle East

It seems that our days in India are over, whether temporary or not. We have seen what we have to see, and visited places we ought to while there, and I am privileged which I am so grateful for. Have to move on. Middle east is very exciting for me too. I have several former college classmates and fellow engineers that work there. I want to know more about its culture (music, art, dress, and cuisine) and the beauty there is to share to those who stop to appreciate, or for those who want to see everything there is.

Frontier trivia of the day:

As of 2007, oil and natural gas revenues had enabled Qatar to attain the highest per capita income in the world, followed by Luxembourg. (see note)
